If you are a widow in need of financial support, or if you know of anyone in such circumstances, please complete the application form below.
1. Application Process
The application form asks for basic details about you, your late husband, your current financial circumstances and the reason for your request for financial assistance.
This must also be supported with the requested documentation and also countersigned by a recognised professional who has known you for a minimum of 2 years. Examples of accepted counter signatories are lawyer, doctor, minister, bank or building society official, dentist, post office official, nurse, optician, or someone in a profession that is regulated by a professional body
You can also ask someone to act as your countersignature if they are a representative from a charity or government organisation (not required to have known you for 2 years).
2. Process for admission
All new applications are assessed by Burnett & Reid before being put forward and considered by the Trustees.
Admission to the roll of beneficiaries and payment of the annuity is made at the discretion of the Trustees and once admitted widows will be supported, provided they continue to meet the Trust’s criteria.
Please return the completed form to Burnett and Reid at the email provided or by post at the addresses below for the Trustees consideration. Once your application has been approved we will email to inform you whether the Trust can help you.
3. Direct financial support
The Trust maintains a roll of annuitants to whom an annuity of currently £450 (paid in two amounts of £225) is paid half-yearly directly into the widow’s bank account on 1 May and on 1 November, together with a Christmas bonus always provided that revenue permits, recent amounts having been in the order of £50.
We will conduct a 5 year re-application process for each widow.
Whilst part of the purpose of this is to assess the beneficiaries continued eligibility for support, we also wish to promote a sense of personal engagement with the Trust.
